Smart Derby was shown by Jerry Wilrich of Itsy Bitsy Burro Company. His first show was in July 2005 in Shelbyville, Tennessee where he placed 3rd in the Yearling Jack Class. He was shown next in August 2005 in Conroe, Texas at a two judge NMDA show. Both judges confirmed our opinion of Derby's outstanding qualities and declared him a CHAMPION!

Smart Derby won 1st Place Yearling Jack under both Judge Larry Parnell and Judge Sami Scheuring. Derby was then awarded NMDA Junior Champion Jack by both judges at the NMDA Lone Star State of Stars Miniature Donkey Show in Conroe, Texas, August 2005.

Smart Derby won 2nd Place Yearling Jack at the 2005 Texas State Fair NMDA Show.

Smart Derby won 1st Place Jack and Grand Champion Model Miniature Donkey at the Houston Livestock Show March 2006.

Smart Derby won 1st Place Jack and Grand Champion Jack at the Texas Championship Miniature Donkey Show May 2006.

Smart Derby won 2006 Grand Champion Jack and Best of Breed at the NMDA National Show, Shelbyville, Tennessee.

Smart Derby won 1st Place 3 Years & Over Jack and Grand Champion Jack 2007 Fort Worth Livestock Show.

Smart Derby returned to the Houston Livestock Show March 2007 and won 1st Place Jack and Grand Champion Model Donkey.

Smart Derby won 2007 Grand Champion Jack and Best of Breed at the NMDA Show, Shelbyville, Tennessee.

Smart Derby won 2008 Grand Champion Jack at The Great Celebration Mule & Donkey NMDA Show in Shelbyville, Tennessee.

Sunset Acres Smart Derby has proven himself to be an outstanding jack. His first foals arrived spring 2007. Every foal has his showy "heads up" personality and conformation to the standards set by ADMS. Derby is proving his excellence in the pasture as well as the show ring.

Santana is a pure and very correct herd sire. He is a brilliant, Dark Red, with perfect conformation, solid with a wide chest and he is very compact. His foals are stamped with his gorgeous head and conformation along with his calm attitude. Everyone notices Santana in the pasture as he will make sure everyone sees him. Santana will bring a great blood line to our herd which matches up very well with our present blood lines.

WOW!! Is how I would describe Secret Agent. I have been watching him mature for the past year or so and he has developed into an outstanding young jack. Very straight back line, deep and rounded hip set with very straight legs, the Primo head and of course the stunning Black & White color that everyone is looking for. Primo has produced the high seller at the Ohio sale and has Champions and Champions to be all across the country! We put his picture beside National Champion Sweet Spotz and at first glance they look almost identical, only the pattern is different!!

Wow! What a Jack Mojave is. We have been wanting to buy Mojave for two plus years and finally Martha Howard called this Spring and said they were ready to sell Mojave to us. We selected Mojave because of his excellent pedigree, correct conformation and his likeable disposition. He has all of the traits that we could ever want in a herd sire. Mojave is a gorgeous black color, very stocky and compact, with a very small head. His topline is very straight as well as his legs. As we watch Mojave in the pasture he seems to glide through the pasture. With his outstanding pedigree, pleasing disposition and very correct conformation, he will surely bring Ponderosa Donkey Farm some of the most appealing, show and herd stock that every breeder wants. Mojave was selected to be on the cover of the Asset magazine for the Summer of '06 herd sire issue. We would like to thank Martha and Dowell Howard of The Elms Farm for allowing us to purchase Mojave.

LN Nicklesworth is a jack that anyone would want to be their herd sire.  Heiken’s Ark has used Nicklesworth to produce several, great small donkeys.  He has a great disposition and the conformation to complement his small size.  His color is a deep dark brown that produces dark brown and black foals.  We were very pleased to have Nicklesworth as our herd sire.
